Review: Bad To The Bone by Jeri Smith-Ready

Bad To The Bone (WVMP #2)
Jeri Smith-Ready
Copyright 2009, Pocket Books

After escaping the grips of Gideon and sealing the deal in her relationship with Shane, things should be looking up for Ciara! Finally, right?! Daddy's back on the run, but he did that to himself. WVMP has avoided the buy out and Oh! Look! A puppy!!

When WVMP (Namely Regina and any female recording artist played) keeps getting kicked off the air waves and replaced with religious preachings, the station (mostly Ciara) sets off to figure out what the heck is going on. As per her usual wit and sarcasm, Ciara sets out to use the publicity in their favor and hosts parties to call out the pirating station. That's when the talking turns to action. Violent attacks threaten those close to the station and the vamps themselves. Upon further investigation, Ciara finds the tool used to hijack their frequency...and a vampire guard dog.

A whole new group of radicals are on the attack and they have Ciara's dad. Playing the part of a sympathizer, she infiltrates their compound only to find herself face to face with their insane leader. And put, again, at deaths door. Coded messages from Shane's broadcasts keep her hopes up and her eyes on the prize.

But what is the ultimate cost? Family matters, even to vamps. Especially to Shane. And Ciara would do just about anything to see him happy and not lost in the sullen despair that comes from saying goodbye to them. The only question left, should she survive, is: What's the cost?

These books are quick reads and thoroughly enjoyable!! The characters are easy to relate to and seriously, who doesn't want a friend like Ciara and Lori? These chicks are awesome. Especially Ciara. As much as I love Lori, I admire the strength and maturity Ciara shows. Book four, Lust For Life comes out in November, so GET ON IT. I'm half way through book three as I write this post and it just keeps getting better!
