Goodreads Review:
Ethan Wate thought he was getting used to the strange, impossible events happening in Gatlin, his small Southern town. But now that Ethan and Lena have returned home, strange and impossible have taken on new meanings. Swarms of locusts, record-breaking heat, and devastating storms ravage Gatlin as Ethan and Lena struggle to understand the impact of Lena's Claiming. Even Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals is affected - and their abilities begin to dangerously misfire. As time passes, one question becomes clear: What - or who - will need to be sacrificed to save Gatlin?
For Ethan, the chaos is a frightening but welcome distraction. He's being haunted in his dreams again, but this time it isn't by Lena - and whatever is haunting him is following him out of his dreams and into his everyday life. Even worse, Ethan is gradually losing pieces of himself - forgetting names, phone numbers, even memories. He doesn't know why, and most days he's too afraid to ask.
Sometimes there isn't just one answer or one choice. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending.

Literally, my heart speeds rapidly when I start to read this and then slows to a stop with that last sucker punch. Ethan is such a good guy, he's honest and loyal to a fault. He's also courageous and not afraid to admit when he's wrong. The fact that he and Lena were first connected through his dreams was like a fantasy before this new type of terrifying dream! Something is coming after him and frankly, that makes me nervous. He's always on it, always figuring out what the next step is and forever trying to mantain a balance in his extremely unbalanced life. The disturbance of forgetting names and faces and memories? To this guy who is so commited to helping everyone and saving the love of his life? And here's the question that's in my head: Where's Lena? What side of the fence is she on in Ethan's struggle? Last we saw her she had two different colored eyes, representing the sides of her and that even she wasn't sure who she was...or what she was capable of. Is Lena doing this to Ethan? She begged him to stay away in Beautiful Darkness, maybe this is her way of getting him out of her life? I'm heartbroken at the thought. And Link?! Where's Link?! What's he doing, how's Ridley...even more, WHERE'S JOHN? I may, possibly, explode waiting for October. The good news? My birthday's in October so I know just what to ask for :) *Calls Hubby into room to show book*
As you can tell, I am beyond pumped for this. I can't wait. These books totally touched me, infiltrated my life and I let it. I won't try to resist. Just have to wait six long-excrutiating months... :P
Now, like my good friend Charlie Blum says, "Onto the Movies!"
(And yes, I realize this article is from March 3...but I'm busy :( and it's new to me!)
According to this article, from NextMovie, Warner Brothers has picked up Beautiful Creatures and I'm excited because they definitely have the budget to do it right! Screenwriter and Academy Award Winner Richard LaGravanese (Water for Elephants Screenwriter) is undertaking the writing and producer goes to Erwin Stoff. These guys even met the authors in South Carolina to go over ideas and make sure their visions were the same. Our beloved authors seem to completely trust these guys and so I will too! The article itself is cool and informative but really when it comes to picking real life people to live up to the wonderous characters we've all envisioned...where do you start? I think the Twilight cast was pretty dead on and I'm really hoping the Caster Chronicles gets the same luck!
Here's my cast!
For Ethan:
Cory Monteith
AKA Finn from Glee. He's got the football, kinda popular and really awesomely good guy role down pat...and look how fun he is! :)
Lena
Gemma Arterton
Prince of Persia and Clash of the Titans. Chick owns it and is not afraid. She can be completely girly and feminine one minute and then giving the orders and kicking serious arse the next. And she's freaking gorgeous.
Uncle Macon
Liam Neeson
You want Southern Gentleman + Hardcore "Don't Mess With Me?" This is who I've got. He's refined but you won't mess with him. Heartbroken and yet hopeful. <3
Ridley
Laura Vandervoort
aka Supergirl :) She's stunning and a really good actress. And look at those eyes! I think she'd be the perfect siren :)
And to be totally honest, I can't for the life of me think of anyone I want to play Amma or Link :( I think I have them soo built up in my head that no actual person I can find will appease me. So, your homework, find me Link's and Amma's!
